My God, March

#EffSpring is here!

This month is named in honor of my tween's favorite new phrase. "My GOD, MOM!" I also let her pick a lot of the songs on the playlists, because we've all been too sick to function. Strep, then a nasty norovirus, then COVID...this has been THE roughest flu season, ever!!!

So, I ran a Strava qualifier for the NYC Marathon in 2020 for a 2021 entry (or was it 2021 for 2022?), then deferred. I'd honestly forgotten about it? I am NOT confident I will be actually running this one, but as of now I AM planning to attend. If you are planning to be in the NYC area for marathon weekend, LMK so we can start planning an FPP meetup!

Speaking of meetups, we have several people attending Three Days at the Fair. Unfortunately, I am not one of those people this year BUT I'm making it a priority for next year. If you will be in the area, or would be interested in a bigger meetup in 2024, LMK so we can start planning! WILD that it will be happening FOUR WHOLE YEARS after we had to cancel due to quarantine!!!

YALL IT HAS BEEN NEARLY THREE YEARS SINCE QUARANTINE...!!!!

This really blew my mind. Three years. If you are reading this, you kept my small, woman-owned business alive during a period that was completely devastating to small businesses everywhere. I am humbled to still be here, and very very grateful to you!

You know what else is humbling? Looking over a three-year period and refusing to calculate how far I've come. We have to use completely different metrics to assess this period. We survived. That's saying a lot. My kids and I have been watching The Last Of Us (and HIGHLY recommend it!) and this show about a post-apocalyptic America, really puts the word 'survival' into perspective for me. No one can be expected to thrive in these conditions. No one. The few who have, have been incredibly lucky. They are outliers, not the norm...and we are by no means behind.

Thing is, hindsight isn't always 20/20. It is hard to have perspective when we are *in it*. It's ok to be angry, or to be bitter, or to grieve what we have lost. It's ok to be frustrated if you aren't where you want to be, or where you would have been in our last normal year (2019! FOUR YEARS AGO!), and it's key to remember that this isn't any fault of yours. You were robbed. You survived. This is not the time to be hard on yourself, it's time for a new framework for assessing where you are and where you want to go. Stay tuned- I will be hosting a webinar on this very topic in April.

If you want some help assessing where you are or where you want to go, PLEASE sign up for Office Hours. I'm here to #coachandlove you, and remind you of all the ways you are #winningatlife. And, if you need to go a little deeper, ask me about one-on-one coaching. I have a few spots open that can tide you over until our next Tiptoe program starts!
