"Annus Horribilis"
If any of you watch The Crown as much as Violet does (DEAR GOD TELL ME YOU WATCH IT LESS???? THIS ISNT HEALTHY WE WATCH IT LITERALLY EVERY NIGHT), then you know season 5 covered the year Queen Elizabeth II describes as her "annus horribilis". In a family so fortunate it's hard to relate to yet alone sympathize with them, even I felt sorry for everyone in that family as I watched the events unfold.
When I take stock of 2023, when iPhoto and Strava show me my year in review, I realize that 2023 was in fact MY annus horribilis. Seems like I'm not the only one who feels that way? Please respond to this email and LMK if we are in the same boat!
It Is Gonna Get Better.
I am so, so sorry that the webinar didn't happen. That Tiptoe hasn't yet started. That I didn't Roar through Romjul the way I had planned. These past 6 weeks have been absolutely heinous, from breaking my face to an endless string of infections. I'm embarrassed to admit how bad things got around here, but fortunately my kids are thriving and my marriage is still sound. I still have something to work with.
And you do, too. You are here, we have each other, we have this community. No matter what 2023 did to you, we can and will turn to a new page in 2024.
